Summary/Objective

The Director of Human Resources leads practices that foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, safety, productivity, and goal attainment while attracting and retaining a superior workforce.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes departmental processes that support the organization's strategic goals.

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of cultural development and recruitment procedures, leadership training, and executive education.

  • Identifies training programs and provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees, including workshops, webinars, manuals, and other resources.

  • Oversees the organization's performance evaluation systems, including performance improvement planning and employee development.

  • Conducts employee relations investigations in concert with executive leadership.

  • Guides Managers in employment decisions, including reviewing and approving employment recommendations.

  • Oversees organizational drug testing policy.

  • Promotes, defines, and monitors practices of recognition and reward for superior employee performance.

  • Serves as the primary conduit with the company employment law attorney.

  • Protects the interests of employees and the organization per policies, laws, and regulations, thus mitigating lawsuit exposure.

  • Review and craft organizational policies to reflect current practices, contract alignment, and laws/regulations

  • Manages organizational coaching platform.

  • Design, organize and implement leadership development programming.

  • Prepare, conduct, synthesize and report on the annual Employee Engagement Survey

  • Evaluates and measures program effectiveness through follow-up assessments, surveys, and feedback.

  • Creates training and developmental objectives for programs based on approved organizational advancement plans.

  • Trains and prepares managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts.

  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees know training and development events and resources.

  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers and staff.

  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers' specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.

  • Creates, plans, and facilitates training and development programs using various forms and formats, including group discussion, lectures, simulations, videos, and in-person.

  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements in the Relias Learning Management System.

  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.

  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of the Relias Learning Management System to provide informed consultations with supervisors to support training objectives under professional growth plans.

  • Designs, directs and manages a process of organizational development that includes succession planning, superior workforce development, and employee retention

  • Organize annual staff conference.

  • Conduct fall and spring wellness initiatives.

  • Models the organization's cultural values

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Some travel is required to the communities we serve.

Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or related field

  • A minimum of five (5) years of management experience

  • Adept with various computer applications, including Microsoft Suite and electronic database systems

  • Proven ability to present information competently in front of audiences with ease.

  • Proven ability to coordinate events across multiple sites annually.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Masters' degree in business or related field

  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organization planning, and development

  • Human Resources Certification PHR/SHRM-CP
