GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position works in conjunction with the full time Distance Learning Coordinator, providing Distance Learning, (DL), and Video TeleConference, (VTC), services for those individuals and groups using the Sheridan DL classroom.

This is a part-time position working approximately 80 hours per month.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Ensure the DL classroom is functional, has working computers and required furniture, and collaborate with the DL Coordinator for any repairs or upgrades needed.

  • Provide a scheduling calendar for users of the DL classroom and work out schedule conflicts.

  • Track hours of use and post usage numbers on the national tracking system.

  • Provide assistance to the users of the DL classroom.

  • Assist with logging on, accessing web site, digitally signing documents, and general Microsoft Office assistance along with general computer use.

  • Provide assistance to the DL Coordinator as needed.

  • Be able to remote into other computer systems in order to troubleshoot and repair remote computer systems.

  • Schedule the use of the VTC equipment.

  • Will set up and troubleshoot the VTC use. This involves setting up endpoint to endpoint connections and coordinating with agencies then monitoring the connection.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to the candidate with experience in general computer use and experience in using VTC equipment.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and policies, technical processes, and procedures related to the department.

  • Knowledge of Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, and Internet browser use.

  • Will need organizational skills in order to ensure availability of the classroom, which might include weekends

  • Knowledge of techniques for providing a high level of customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree (typically in Business)

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant II

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Assistant II

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.

  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

  • Work may be required 1-2 evenings/weekends per month.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt

  • All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.
