What We're Looking For

We are looking for a self-motivated Project Engineer with critical thinking skills and a high drive, capable of working in a fast-paced environment. The Project Engineer at EMIT would be responsible for owning the customers' projects from sales handoff through shipment while ensuring success at every step along the way. Team members will also ensure a clean, safe working environment, be a team player, perform quality work, be available until work is done, and know and understand the policies, procedures and processes of EMIT.Key responsibilities include:

Manage large projects from customer initiation to shipment including design, detail, purchasing support, production support, and engineering specification review

  • Work effectively with sales to review requests for quote
  • Review quotes to POs and ensure alignment
  • Review new projects to ensure manufacturability and overall success of the project
  • Manage the handoff from sales to operations ensuring all necessary engineering information is defined prior to production
  • Create new items, BOMS, and routings in ERP
  • Responsible for entire design process from concept to production including engineering, design, detail, and support
  • Create 3D models in CAD using vault best practices
  • Create detailed fabrication drawings in CAD using ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Review detail drawings to ensure compliance to EMIT drawing standards and GD&T practices
  • Follow engineering workflow through PDM software
  • Work effectively with production to resolve any issues with BOMs, routes, and designs
  • Ensure completed projects meet customer specification
  • Follow sustaining engineering practices to revise models and drawings
  • Write change documents according to EMIT processes
  • Serve as an integral part of a cross departmental team
  • Demonstrate motivation to develop and improve processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table

Required Skills

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering required
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T required
  • 2+ years of 3D CAD experience required,
  • Minimum three years related work experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management
  • Strong attention to detail
Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred
  • Experience with Tekla a plus
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes a plus
  • SW or Inventor experience preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of engineering change order process a plus
  • Knowledge of product data management a plus
  • Design for manufacturing experience a plus
  • Familiarity with laser cutting, braking, rolling, welding and various other manufacturing techniques a plus
  • Familiarity with top down modeling preferred
  • Familiarity with configured product preferred
  • Familiarity with engineered to order process preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP a plus, GP preferred
