Our Sheridan Wyoming office offers a unique work environment and specializes in a range of energy and land development projects. This position will focus on managing and leading Sheridan's natural resource program. You should be able to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment and lead a team of talented project managers and scientists.

What you will accomplish

  • Prepare and review stand-alone biological resources reports, biological assessments, wetland reports, and biological portions of NEPA and/or northern great plains permit documents
  • Manage the financial performance of individual projects and effectively coordinate with clients and agencies

  • Manage client relationships and conduct business development with new and existing clients

  • Supervise, mentor and instruct project managers, technical staff and field personnel

  • Prepare protocols and supervise surveys for sensitive habitats and species; including general surveys for report writing, focused or protocol-level surveys, and pre-construction surveys

  • Prepare reports related to National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, technical documents, proposals and other written deliverables related to various permitting/planning and compliance projects as required

  • Network within industry organizations to establish and expand the regional client base and revenue in the areas of environmental planning, permitting, and broad-based natural resources services.

  • Identify and qualify sales opportunities (prospects and proposals), manage opportunities and make recommendations to the Operations Director

  • Provide management plan/action plan for projects that are on an overrun track and ensure that the plan is implemented to avoid overruns

  • Primary responsibility for QA/QC oversight of field data to support report-writing, land use planning, State (WDEQ) and Federal reports (Fish and Wildlife Service, USACE, etc.), and permitting

  • Develop recommendations for mitigation measures, monitoring, and permitting specific to biological resources

Experience and qualifications for success

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Fish and Wildlife Science, Ecology, or related field required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental fieldwork preforming wetland delineations , T&E studies, and/or other environmental surveys

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management related to environmental consulting services required

  • Previous experience with environmental surveys/regulations in the Northern Great Plains is preferred

  • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and guidance, particularly Wyoming and Montana regulations is required
