Vacutech LLC, the largest private employer in Sheridan, Wyoming, is seeking a CAD / Engineering Manager to join our expanding team. We are seeking an experienced candidate, who is self-motivated, has strong verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail and is customer service oriented. Candidates must have the experience and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position requires working with our management team, sales team, purchasing team, vendors and manufacturing personnel to ensure our customers consistently receive the highest quality products.

Job Duties:

  • Lead and manage daily activities of the CAD and engineering personnel by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing, policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate current and available technology and facilitate integration of CAD software with business systems.

  • Lead and manage efforts to resolve product concerns presented by Customers and/or employees.

  • Lead and manage efforts to evaluate new and existing products for form, fit, function, manufacturability, and design and aesthetic styling with a goal of achieving simplification, standardization, reliability and cost reduction.
  • Develop and manage engineering and drafting standards, policies and procedures, calculations, BOM entry into ERP.
  • Work as part of a team to problem solve quality and manufacturing shortcomings using a systematic and process-based approach.
  • Oversee and maintain prioritization of design and engineering projects to achieve completion on schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Prefer bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline and minimum of two years of relevant experience supervising designers and engineers.
  • Background in manufacturing processes, production equipment and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of architectural and mechanical detailing, construction and fabrication.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be highly organized, self- motivated and work independently.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally, and maintain a positive working relationship, in demanding and/or high-pressure circumstances
  • Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
