Responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards and RAGAGEP best practices on all piping work executed within the refinery fence line. Review all engineering packages to ensure compliance in their area of expertise. Act as the SWRC piping SME on the Sinclair Standards steering committee. Write, review, and approve all related standards deviations and owner’s engineer decisions. Revise and review Sinclair engineering standards regularly. Remain up to date on all codes, standards, interpretations and RAGAGEP best practices related to piping engineering. Provide rulings, recommendations and answers to complicated technical questions as assigned by the SME Supervisor.

  • Accountable for ensuring that the mechanical design of piping systems is per ASME B31.3 and B31.1 and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis on new and existing piping systems using computer software such as Caesar II.
  • Assist with system hydraulic design including piping and pump sizing.
  • Provide technical expertise in regards to piping related questions to other refinery departments
  • Participate in incident investigations and help identify problem areas.
  • Review work packages of outside engineering firms to ensure compliance with Sinclair standards and expectations.
  • Develop and review Sinclair Engineering Standards related to piping to ensure best practices are followed and considered.
  • Follow-through on commitments made to others.
  • Create and maintain a neat, clean and well-organized and professional-looking work area.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering. Prefer an Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing. Strong knowledge of ASME and API piping and pressure vessel codes and standards. Experience in an oil and gas preferred. Excellent organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, is required. Position will be filled dependent on years of experience overall and years specific to experience related to oil and gas industry.
