DescriptionControllerA well established, Grand Rapids area, Privately owned, Distribution company is looking for a Controller for a full time opportunity! This Controller will be the top-level Finance and Accounting person in the company, and must be able to wear many hats including HR, IT, and Office Management. As this multi-faceted Controller, you are expected to be "hands-on", hard working, inquisitive, and have a strong can-do attitude. Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Requirements
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Proven knowledge of management
Knowledge of sales and use tax
Solid understanding of month end closings
Annual Inventory experience
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
