Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of food preparation techniques. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, providing high-quality meals to our guests. The Prep Cook will work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to prepare ingredients, maintain cleanliness, and assist in meal preparation—experience cooking large volumes is a major plus.
Duties
Prepare and chop vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients for cooking
Assist in cooking meals according to established recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
Follow food safety protocols to ensure the highest standards of hygiene
Help with menu planning by providing input on seasonal ingredients and dish ideas
Perform food handling tasks, including portioning and plating dishes
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during meal periods
Assist in catering events as needed, ensuring all food is prepared to specifications
Utilize knife skills effectively for efficient meal preparation
Experience
Previous experience in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred
Background in menu planning and food preparation within a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
Familiarity with food service operations and food handling best practices is essential
Culinary experience that includes cooking, meal preparation, and knowledge of food safety regulations is required
Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with strong teamwork skills is highly valued
Part-time hours vary: 8am-8pm based on the needs of the company.
