With a loyal and appreciative clientele who love being anticipated and cared for, we are looking for a passionate Sushi Chef to join our family-oriented team. About the Role
As our Sushi Chef, you will be at the heart of our kitchen, crafting Nigiri, Maki (rolls), Sashimi, and creative specialty dishes that keep our guests coming back. You will work closely with our team to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dinner service, maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, and guest experience.
Responsibilities
Prepare, assemble, and present a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes with care, precision, and attention to detail and presentation , including rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items.
Maintain fresh, high-quality ingredients through proper handling, storage, and rotation according to health regulations.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures at all times
Assist with inventory management, monitoring stock levels, and ordering supplies as needed
Keep the sushi station and overall surrounding kitchen area clean, organized, and in compliance with health standards.
Work collaboratively with FOH staff and the kitchen team, fostering a supportive and family-like environment.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
Execute precise knife skills for slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients efficiently and safely
Contribute to new dish ideas and seasonal specials.
Engage warmly and professionally with guests at the sushi bar, providing a welcoming experience.
Thrive during busy dinner service periods; while weekends are lively, weekdays are also busy and rewarding.
If needed, to support catering events or special functions by preparing sushi platters with professionalism and flair
What We’re Looking For
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Sushi Chef in a Japanese restaurant or similar environment.
Skilled in Nigiri, Maki, Sashimi, and modern-style sushi dishes.
Strong communication skills and a positive attitude; able to work harmoniously with a diverse team.
Professional appearance, friendly demeanor, and genuine hospitality toward guests.
Excellent time management and ability to stay organized under pressure.
Open availability for dinner service, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting
Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food industry standards
Demonstrated expertise in menu planning and creating visually appealing sushi presentations
Extensive knowledge of food safety protocols, proper food handling, and sanitation practices
Experience with dietary department requirements or dietary aide experience is a plus but not mandatory
Skilled in knife handling, meal preparation, and managing multiple orders efficiently under pressure
Prior restaurant experience emphasizing quality service and culinary craftsmanship is highly desirable
