Under general supervision the Set-up Machinist will perform duties to ensure that parts are set-up to be machined to the specifications detailed in the engineering blueprints and printed work instructions (Traveler). Candidate will also work closely with the engineering and programming departments to provide in-process troubleshooting and evaluate the quality of the machine Set-up.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Review specifications to determine best set-up procedures, machine sequence and dimensions. Must be able to read complex blueprints, bill of materials and customer specifications related to the product requirements
- Select fixtures, part holding and tooling to set-up machine as necessary
- Confirm conformance of finished work to specifications using measuring and inspection tools as necessary
- Identify workmanship and material defects and deficiencies and initiate program changes when required
- Constantly monitor the feed rate & speed of the machine
- Ensure that the work piece is being properly lubricated and cooled
- Responsible for detecting possible problems by listening for specific sounds to ensure dull cutting tools are being removed and replaced when needed during the operation
- Position may require overtime & weekends as needed
Required Knowledge skills and abilities:
CNC Set-up Machinist
Under
- Five or more years’ experience with computer numerical controlled machining
- Knowledge of Mori Seiki Fanuc controls
- Demonstrate ability to set-up a machine to run the job.
- Basic math and computing knowledge
- Knowledge of general safety procedures
- Ability to meet production requirements as specified
- Experience with AS9100 Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
