The Bailey Law Firm is looking for a motivated, part-time (could become full-time) contract civil litigation attorney with exceptional writing, research, and communication skills to fill the position of Associate Attorney in our firm. The position can be remote or at the office location in San Luis Obispo. The attorney will be assisting the managing attorney in all areas of our clients’ legal needs and should be highly detail-oriented. We are an expanding firm looking for someone who can work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct research, prepare legal documents, appear in court, and perform other duties to ensure that clients receive the best and most cost-effective legal solutions
Timekeeping and case management
Conduct legal research
Draft complex pleadings, motions, and demand letters
Court appearances and trials as necessary
Conduct depositions
Correspond with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
Meet filing deadlines
Provide ethical representation
Qualifications and Skills
Organized self-starter
Proficient with judicial council forms, Microsoft Suite, and Odyssey eFile CA
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience drafting complex pleadings, motions, demand letters
Experience reviewing financial records
Organized, proficient at multi-tasking, and detail oriented
Works well under pressure and deadlines
Takes initiative while working independently
Ability to work in a team with support staff
Can effectively interact with clients
Compensation commensurate with experience.
