Underdogs Cantina is a local restaurant combining a modern taqueria with sports. But the Underdogs Cantina is much more than that your typical restaurant.
Our food is local, sustainable and we use only compostable materials for our packaging products. We feel we have a duty to supply fresh food to each customer, while also being environmentally conscious. We are very proud of our Surfrider Ocean Friendly certification!
Our menu is a modern take on the taqueria while grounded in strong traditions. From a crispy taco done to one of our special burritos, soups or quesadillas, our kitchen prepares each item with careful attention. Meats are slow cooked and infused with flavor. Produce and fish are fresh as they are purchased each morning to ensure an unsurpassed quality. Even our margaritas are prepared fresh and for each customer using agave nectar.

It is no small feat to join the taco team, as we don’t require you to leap over tall buildings, but we do require you to leap to a new level of customer service that is not found elsewhere in our industry.
Activities & Responsibilities
Primary
Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Underdogs Cantina
Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services
Monitor and observe guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.
Take food or beverages orders to guests.
Explain to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
Inform guests of menu changes and daily specials and make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
Serve food or beverages to guests and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests, and chill bottles of wine.
Describe and recommend beverages to guests.
Check guests’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant’s standard drink recipes.
Accept guest payment, process credit card charges, and make change if necessary.
Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
Present drink menus, make recommendations, and answer questions regarding beverages.
Take food and beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests seated at the bar.
Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
Collect payments from guests.
Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
Clean tables or counters after guests have finished dining.
Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom.
Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
