Caregiver needed, male preferred.
Approximately 8 hours per week. Flexible schedule. Shifts could be split into 2 four-hour afternoon shifts, or 3 three hour shifts.
Client is a 63 year old male, recovering from a severe stroke. He has aphasia, and a partially paralyzed arm and leg. He is very easy to get along with, he is gracious, friendly and appreciative. Sometimes he's a real comedian.
Duties are:
Provide companionship, and support for completing daily Physical Therapy exercises, and stretching.
Also Speech Therapy exercises.
Little or no personal care will be necessary.
Previous caregiving experience is necessary. Professional experience is good, but experience caring for a relative or friend would also be fine.
IHSS certification will be necessary. If you are not certified with IHSS, we will need you to complete the IHSS certification soon after being hired. It's a quick and easy process.
The therapists will train you to assist with all of his exercises. They will also train you to do all other assisting tasks such as transferring the client in and out of bed.
The client prefers a caregiver who performs all duties responsibly, but is also able to just hang out and provide companionship. If you like to be silly and joke around sometimes, that would be even better.
Payment is $25 - $35 an hour based on experience.
Weekly hours may increase in the future.
