We’re a tech worker and healthcare professional in Redwood City. We have a 5-year-old son (with a live-in nanny), a Samoyed who sheds enough fur to knit a second dog, and two houses—one we live in, one we’re actively renovating. The logistics are winning.
What This Actually Looks Like
We need someone who can handle the ground game while we handle everything else. Think:
- Pickups and drop-offs (working alongside our nanny)
- The Costco run we’ve been postponing for two weeks
- Getting our house organized enough that we can be ready for some new babies
- Shuttling renovation materials and overflow to storage
- Managing the parade of contractors at our second house
- All the small-but-essential tasks that keep falling off our radar
Some of this can happen remotely (scheduling, research, coordination), but most of it requires being here in person. We’re looking for 20-40 hours per week with negotiable scheduling.
The Person We’re Looking For
You’re someone who gets things done without drama. You don’t need your hand held, but you also don’t disappear when something goes sideways. When you spot a problem, you either fix it or bring us a solution—not just a status update.
You’re good with people—our kid, our dog, the contractor who’s running late again. You don’t get flustered when plans change (they will). You know the difference between “this needs to be perfect” and “this needs to be done by Tuesday,” and you calibrate accordingly.
Most importantly: you say what needs saying. If something isn’t working, if we forgot something important, if there’s a better way to do it—you tell us directly. No passive aggression, no waiting for us to figure it out. We’re adults; we can handle honest feedback.
What We Care About
We value competence and kindness in equal measure. Life’s too short for people who make everything harder than it needs to be—whether that’s through poor communication, unnecessary complexity, or just being unkind to others. We’re looking for someone who makes our household run smoother, not someone who adds another layer of management to our lives.
What You’ll Need
- Several years of relevant experience (household management, executive assistance, operations—we care more about demonstrated competence than specific titles)
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Comfort working with kids and pets
- The ability to prioritize without constant direction
- Good judgment about when to escalate and when to just handle it
Logistics
- Location: Redwood City, primarily in-person
- Hours: 20-40/week, flexible scheduling
- Compensation: $30/hour, up to $40 over time
To Apply
Email us a brief note (along with your resume) covering:
- A bit about yourself and your background
- Why this role makes sense for you
- An example of how you’ve brought order to someone else’s chaos
We’ll read every application. If it seems like a fit, we’ll set up a conversation.
