Description We are offering an opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the Accounting/Finance industry. The position will handle the accounting for both the loan origination and debt servicing companies. The accountant will interact directly with supervisors, juniors, and outside accounting firm, developing and maintaining financial reporting supporting work papers, preparing and posting correcting and/or closing journal entries, adjusted trial balances and maintaining and updating client’s general ledger systems. Candidate must be an aggressive self-starter and proactive problem solver. Responsiveness to handling multiple tasks and deadlines (for both financial statements and special projects) is essential. Candidate will possess strong accounting skills in US GAAP as well as the ability to grow technically. Mature, dependable demeanor and effective communicator.Primary Duties:
Review of client books and records, reconcile account balances to supporting schedules, and ability to determine the correctness of accounts and propose/post correcting journal entries and supporting work papers and adjusted trial balance on both a US GAAP basis and accrual basis
Prepare and submit adjusting journal entries in client’s primary general ledger accounting system
Assist in preparation of financial statements, footnotes and necessary support for clients’ internal and external reporting requirements
Assist in preparation of non-public company’s financial statements, footnotes and necessary support
Update and maintain accounting models in Excel
Validate financial information maintained by third party service providers
Oversee, review and help coordinate completeness of loan origination documentation for several vendors and entities
Responsible for highlighting unusual relationships from basis analysis for financial statements and account balances
Ability to perform basic US GAAP research
Assist on special accounting projects
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting
Minimum of 5-8 years working experience (Preferably with a minimum of 2-3 years within a public accounting firm)
Sound knowledge of GAAP, internal management and investor reporting a plus
Proficiency in month/quarter/annual closings for both US GAAP and accrual basis financial statements
Knowledge of mortgage-backed securities (FAS 134) helpful, but not required
Knowledge of bond accounting is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word) and Google Suite and familiarity with general ledger accounting software Yardi (Yardi Voyager preferred)
Strong analytical skills and familiarity with audit work papers
Ability to understand and present ideas clearly and effectively in oral and written form
Take responsibility for planning, direction and control of various aspects of the reporting process as well as suggesting improvements and enhancements
Ability to collaborate and remain flexible with others to ensure that filings are timely and in compliance.
Certifications/Licenses:
Minimum of requisite education toward CPA certification
CPA is a plus
Compensation:The expected annual salary for this position is between $100,000 and $120,000 at the start of employment. A salary offer is determined on an individualized basis, taking into consideration factors such as an individual’s skills and experience.
