Structural Engineer – Residential
Location: Office Centreville- Travel to customer site is required
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to provide permit drawings. Needs a strong background in residential structural analysis and design, with the ability to assess existing structures and develop effective solutions for a variety of construction and repair scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site assessments of residential structures to identify structural deficiencies and design solutions.
Prepare detailed engineering reports, design drawings, and specifications for:
Load bearing wall removal
Foundation inspections and repairs
Garage/Barn conversions
Seawall repair and construction
Home additions and renovations
Basement layouts
Collaborate with clients and architects to develop cost-effective and code-compliant solutions.
Perform load calculations, foundation design, and analysis of wood, concrete, masonry, and steel systems.
Ensure all designs comply with Virginia building codes and local permitting requirements.
Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia
Minimum 3–5 years of experience
Strong understanding of the International Residential Code (IRC) and local regulations.
Excellent problem-solving, and communication.
Field inspection and report-writing experience
