PIPE FOREMAN
H & J Contracting, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Pipe Foreman. The Pipe Foreman will supervise the lay out, assembly and installation of various sizes and types of drain pipe. The Pipe Foreman will study project specifications with Pipe Superintendent to plan sequencing and schedule for pipe installation.
Key Duties
Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a 2 – 5 person crew.
Utilizes heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill drainage pipe.
Sequences pipe installation to reduce inference with other project activities and the public.
Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company safety program.
Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Analyzes job cost reports to ensure production is within budget.
Reviews and approves employee time reporting.
Maintains professional relationship with Owner and Clients.
The Pipe Foreman must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required.
Must have reliable transportation, a clean drivers license and a clean criminal background as jobs are in various counties.
Average work week consists of 50+ hours.
Must be available to work Saturday’s when needed.
Qualification Requirements
This position is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Pipe Foreman. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management, fellow employees and Owner. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience required. Valid Florida Driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and clean criminal background required.
Physical Demands.
Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned.
Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that are typically associated with a construction project.
