Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders. North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey, and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists. North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center Hospital is hiring a Licensed Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological services to both civil and forensic patients. The role involves therapy, assessments, crisis interventions, and legal evaluations in a dynamic, multidisciplinary setting. The ideal candidate will excel in both clinical and forensic psychology, committed to delivering high-quality care. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

Clinical Care: Provide individual and group therapy, crisis interventions, and develop tailored treatment plans.

Assessments: Administer psychological tests and gather collateral information for accurate diagnosis.

Forensic Services: Prepare court reports and testify on diagnostic findings and treatment progress.

Consultation: Collaborate with medical staff and legal agencies to enhance patient care and provide expert insights.

Research: Engage in quality improvement initiatives and program development.

Performs other related duties, as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:

Knowledge of the theories and principles of psychology.

Knowledge of psychological testing principles and practices.

Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Ability to develop policies, procedures and standards.

Ability to analyze and interpret psychological data.

Ability to provide consultation, advice and training to others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed Florida Psychologist.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

Experience with civil and forensic patients.

Experience in providing court testimony.

Experience in crisis management and research in mental health.

Certification in forensic psychology or related training.
