As a part of a project team, the Associate will be responsible for coordinating and advancing a variety of tasks, including: project management; technical assistance for Medicaid program monitoring oversight; and quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. The Associate will demonstrate a willingness to adapt and be flexible in their role to be responsive to evolving client needs and priorities. Depending on Associate interests and project needs, the Associate will have an opportunity to learn and practice a variety of skills across projects, including project and operations management, collaborator engagement, and user design.Core Responsibilities:Note: This is a representative list. Provide logistical and operational support to assist with planning complex and diverse projects and tasks, managing schedules and finances, and executing high quality deliverables to help Mathematica meet client objectives.

Support client relationships by developing progress reports, creating meeting agendas, organizing and taking meeting minutes, creating and maintaining decision logs.

Compile and track information in spreadsheets and databases (for example, Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, and Project or other collaborative tools such as Atlassian Confluence or Jira) and report action-oriented findings to the project team, the client, or both.

Coordinate and support project tasks, such as scheduling meetings and interviews, tracking agenda items, taking comprehensive meeting minutes, and communicating updates to the team.

Analyze and effectively communicate possible solutions to complex problems to project leadership.

Prepare and submit monthly reports for internal and external collaborators to summarize project or task status and performance.

Identify and implement process improvements to elevate project performance.

Assist with project onboarding activities, such as coordinating security training documentation, access to federal systems, and access to project folders and applications.

Client and Collaborator Engagement

Communicate effectively with diverse collaborators such as technical project staff, researchers, administration, consultants, subcontractors, client representatives, and persons with lived experiences to successfully execute project work.

Draft sensitive correspondence to clients and contribute to newsletters, reports, briefs, memos, presentations, or other deliverables.

Follow and refine standard operating procedures to manage project and task technical assistance mailboxes (help desks) and draft responses to collaborator requests and questions.

Support the design and pre-test data collection instruments, questionnaires, and protocols, or provide guided quality assurance and user acceptance reviews of technical assistance or program monitoring tools.

Technical Assistance and Research Support

Contribute to technical assistance and research tasks for a variety of participants, such as performing literature searches and reviews, or abstracting and synthesizing information from program or regulatory documents and reports.

Monitor project help desk requests and liaise with internal subject matter experts to track and respond to the technical support needs of state Medicaid agencies and other federal program participants.

Convey user needs and priorities to project delivery support stuff including: graphic designers, editors, and programmers to ensure high quality and responsive project deliverables.

Position Requirements:

Experience with Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project or other collaborative tools such as Atlassian Confluence or Jira.

Demonstrates an aptitude for proactive problem solving.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Illustrates high level of organization and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and tasks.

Willingness to adapt and be flexible in responsibilities.

Education Minimum Requirement:

A bachelor’s degree

Years of Relevant Experience:

At least 0 - 4 years to start

This position offers an anticipated base salary of $50,000 - $60,000 annually. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance.Staff in our Health unit will eventually work with our largest client, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). Most staff working on CMS contracts will be required to complete a successful background investigation including the Questionnaire for Public Trust PositionSF-85. Staff that are unable to successfully undergo the background investigation will need to be able to obtain work outside CMS.
