Job description:

Key Responsibilities

Interpret and work from blueprints, layout drawings, and grade stakes to determine layout and elevations.

Set up formwork systems for slabs, walls, and decks using appropriate forming materials and methods.

Perform site layout and prep, including verifying depths and overlays, and ensuring rebar and embeds are placed to spec.

Place, spread, and finish concrete using hand tools and power equipment (e.g., trowels, screeds, floats).

Ensure correct mixing, curing, and protection of concrete for optimal strength and durability.

Construct and install hardscape features such as patios, sidewalks, driveways, and foundations.

Operate power tools and heavy equipment (e.g., skid steers, compactors) as needed.

Perform general carpentry, stucco, and light drywall duties as necessary to support other phases of construction.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site; follow all safety regulations and best practices.

Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Required Experience & Skills

3+ years of experience in concrete construction or journeyman-level trades.

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, elevations, and layout markers.

Hands-on knowledge of form deck systems, slab grading, rebar layout, and concrete finishing techniques.

Strong understanding of depth overlays and site preparation for concrete placement.

Familiarity with hardscape materials and installation methods is preferred.

Able to work in varying conditions and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.

Reliable transportation, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are a must.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift with proper technique (preferably using legs), up to 80 lbs regularly.

Requires moderate to consistent standing and walking on uneven surfaces throughout the workday.

Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching in tight or awkward spaces.

Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, cold).

Requires frequent use of hand tools and equipment that demand repetitive upper body motion and grip strength.

Occasional climbing on ladders, form decks, or scaffolding as needed for setup or finishing tasks.

Must be able to push, pull, and carry materials such as rebar, lumber, buckets, and concrete forms.

Requires frequent stooping and crouching to tie rebar, check depth, or finish lower areas of concrete.

Regularly required to maintain balance and coordination when working on uneven or sloped job sites.

Must be able to safely wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe boots, hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses.
