Job description:
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at Indiana State University. The ideal candidate will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and food safety practices.
Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen stations for various meal services.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food prep areas.
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to meet deadlines and service needs.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a large commercial kitchen.
Experience in fast food is not considered relevant for this position.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
