ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Carries out the Iowa Standards for School Leaders

Ensures clear and measurable goals are established, focused, and monitored to improve overall student achievement.

Provides instructional leadership within the school setting.

Leads the school learning organization by creating a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.

Provides a clear vision for how instruction should be carried out in the school setting.

Leads, supports and delegates the school leadership team in a comprehensive approach to accomplish school goals.

Ensures a multi-tiered system of support is in place to support students who display academic and behavioral difficulties.

Provides instructional leadership.

Leads, supports and fosters a professional learning community which emphasizes collective efficacy of teachers and the review of student performance data.

Incorporates ethical principles in all decision-making processes and treats all members of the school community with fairness, equity, dignity and respect.

Effectively communicates, uses consensus building and conflict resolution techniques and problem-solving skills.

Leads and engages stakeholders in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school improvement plan.

Ensures that teachers are provided with clear, ongoing evaluations of their pedagogical strengths and weaknesses that are based on multiple sources of data and are consistent with a professional growth model.

Positively impacts the performance of building employees through effective mentoring, supervision, and evaluation.

Establishes and conveys high expectations for self, colleagues and students.

Guides curriculum delivery and professional learning and development that promotes a focus on student learning consistent with the school and District vision, mission, and goals.

Manages the allocation of resources in a manner that provides equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Ensures that all students are expected to learn the critical content of the curriculum.

Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports, records, tests, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration.

Prepares, submits and implements ethically, accurately, and efficiently the school budget and accounts.

Works with appropriate district personnel in the effective and efficient operation of the school plant, food service, transportation, and accounting functions.

Recruits, interviews, recommends for hire, mentors and evaluates highly qualified faculty and staff; and works with appropriate district administrators in the selection and assignment of building personnel.

Manages the implementation of a variety of bargained agreements with and for employees.

Maintains a safe learning and working environment and responds to emergencies according to protocol.

Oversees student co-curricular, interscholastic, intramural, and social activities.

Maintains current knowledge of developments and best practices in the field of middle school education.

Provides leadership in supporting groups such as PTA, school-business partnerships, community agencies, etc.

Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Experience addressing the needs of a diverse student population.

Experience working with first and second-order change.

Experience building and fostering a positive school culture.

Experience working with students who display academic and behavioral difficulties.

Responsive to the needs of a diverse middle school population.

Fosters positive relationships and active communications with all students, parents, staff, administrators and community members.

Licensure, training and experience for middle school level education.

Provides active communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders including students, parents, staff, administration and community members.

Represent the District in a professional manner through confidentiality, collegiality, and the ability to inspire and influence others.

Skills and disposition to design a positive school culture and orchestrate a safe, orderly, caring community for learning.

Capacity to lead staff development planning and implementation to accomplish goals and objectives identified through the school improvement planning process.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and related communication skills, including prooing, editing and creating original documents.

Ability to work independently without supervision and as a team member.

Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions, problem solve independently and with others, and take initiatives.

Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis with the willingness to adjust to flexible work schedules.

Ability to organize, prioritize, and assume responsibility and be accountable for decisions.

Capable of representing the District in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, collegiality, and the ability to obtain and utilize additional training, if necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position begins July 1, 2024SALARY: $147,524.00LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, reports, regulations, etc. Ability to effectively write reports and communications to administrators, colleagues, parents, students and staff. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to perform basic mathematical functions. Ability to use spreadsheets and reporting documents that assist with the computation of data.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, community members, staff and students. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 points 0 -12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as office materials, desks, chairs, and boxes. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts.
