This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.The purpose of this position is to administer critical management of information systems used by all divisions within MNIT Services and MNIT’s customers. The incumbent will perform day to day maintenance efforts as well as participate projects across the Enterprise, including physical and virtual servers on prem and in the cloud (Azure), to ensure stable continued operations in a compliant manner and to deliver feature and capacity enhancements through projects as required.Responsibilities include managing major technologies and/or supporting technologies as follows:
Provide analysis of network computing operations, maintenance, and support (major)
System rebuild/replacement projects, utilizing a Cloud-First strategy (major)
Meet with MNIT stake holders to elicit needs, establish project plans, and agree upon strategies (major)
Act as a point of escalation to lower tiers of support for server hardware and software and administration (major)
Server activity monitoring (major)
Provide additional support for managing, troubleshooting, and ensuring the stability of the MNIT Enterprise server infrastructure and MNIT Enterprise Active Directory (as appropriate) infrastructure and configuration according to industry best practices and security requirements (major)
Ensure that all systems have malware/antivirus protection as is appropriate (major)
Plan for, test, and implement infrastructure firmware, operating system, and driver patching (major)
Evaluate security recommendations for server build standards (lead)
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Minimum QualificationsCandidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in server/hosting systems, network technologies, ticketing system, and Windows server technical support experience within a hybrid on prem and cloud hosted environment.Experience must include:
Advanced knowledge of Window Server administration.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps, including Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management.
Sophisticated troubleshooting ability, including the ability to create and test hypotheses based on relative likelihood, a willingness and ability to creatively consider all possible causes for a problem and test appropriately.Advanced experience in problem diagnosis, remediation and testing.
Knowledge of Microsoft Operating System scripting, including batch file creation, PowerShell, command-line registry manipulation, scheduled tasks and command-based configuration.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy implementation and best practices.
Knowledge and understanding of Windows server operating systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of the operating system(s).
Experience and understanding of server administrator concepts, including server creation, physical server conversions and host server operations.
