This position will focus on developing and implementing communications and marketing assets that promote the Association's strategic priorities and events, with a special emphasis on traditional and non-traditional media relations within the Mobile, AL market.The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. Responsibilities

Writes/distributes communications materials mostly supporting fundraising activations.

Pitches/places stories in traditional and non-traditional media, as appropriate.

Assists with social media posts and web stories.

Secures media participation in support of American Heart Association events.

Works with internal fundraising staff to determine roles/responsibilities for communications support and provide support, as appropriate.

Identifies human interest stories for distribution via media, digital and social channels.

Develop PowerPoints and Communications reports as required.

Works to place Public Service Announcements (PSA) locally, as appropriate.

Works with other team members to help manage local paid advertising projects.

Manages and implements other projects as identified by the Executive Director and Regional VP of Communications.

Qualifications

Senior or graduate level college or university student studying communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or related field.

Ability to work as a team member with multiple internal and external constituencies: staff, media, external corporations, and volunteers.

Interest in implementing public relations campaigns, pitching to media, writing and/or developing press releases, scripts, social media posts and other marketing and communications assets.

Working knowledge of news media operations, newsgathering, and technology.

Exceptional oral and written communications skills.

Ability to travel to local meetings and events as required.

Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi connection

Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 9am-5:00pm.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
