Are you passionate about orthopedic care and making a positive impact on patients' lives? DMC is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant (MA) with orthopedic experience to join our dynamic Sports Medicine team and contribute to the excellence of our specialty department. This position is primarily in our Wellness clinic in Derry, but also travels to our Bedford clinic. Responsibilities:
Assist orthopedic providers and other medical staff,in a Family Medicine clinic setting, in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
Perform chart prep prior to appointment, call patients (as needed) to obtain information or to instruct for pre-visit imaging or tests.
Room patients, including taking vital signs.
Perform orthopedic procedures such as casting, splinting, and bracing, under the supervision of sports medicine/orthopedic providers.
Instruct patients and their families on post-visit care, rehab exercises, and proper use of orthopedic devices.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care activities.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited orthopedic technology program preferred.
Certification as an Orthopedic Technician (COT) or Orthopedic Technologist (OT) is highly desirable (but not required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an orthopedic care setting.
Proficiency in orthopedic casting, splinting, and bracing techniques.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
