Job Title: Bartender

Department: Food and Beverage

Supervisor: Director of Food and Beverage

JOB SUMMARY:

Bartender is responsible for managing the bar and lounge and preparing all drinks according to standard bar recipes. Bartender is also responsible for bar cashiering and cash handling while serving customers food and beverage at the bar in a friendly and professional manner.

JOB DUTIES

1. Manages all lounge activities and follows all bar set-up and breakdown procedures.

2. Serves properly prepared alcoholic drinks to guests in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Serves bar patrons’ food orders as requested.

4. Stocks bar supplies to maintain required par levels

5. Report any problems that cannot be appropriately handled, to supervisory personnel.

6. Opens, manages, and closes cash drawer and makes cash drop at end of shift as required. Maintains any cash over and under balance to hotel directed limits. Count bank at end of shift; complete cashier reports and drop receipts; secure bank.

7. Complies with the Inn of the Governors policies and procedures as well as to all New Mexico state laws and directives.

8. Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet while demonstrating complete knowledge of and strictly abiding by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.

9. Complete opening and closing duties and ensuring all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the ALOHA system before giving drinks to them.

10. Present guest checks and process payments.

11. Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures.

12. Perform other duties as assigned by the F & B Director, Shift Supervisor or GM.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical Requirements:

1. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

2. Work in a fast paced and noisy environment.

3. Constant standing, bending, and walking required for up to 10 hours.

4. Must have good vision and hearing.

5. Must be 21 years or older.

License and Certification

1. Must possess or complete NM Alcohol Server Certification within three weeks of hire.

Education and Qualifications

1. Two years experience in a full service, fast paced bar environment.

2. Ability to mix most standard alcoholic beverages essential.

Skills and Abilities

1. Demonstrate basic bartender skills.

2. Neat and Clean in appearance and professional demeanor

3. Knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation procedures.

4. Good people skills essential

5. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding while anticipating guests’ needs, responding promptly and acknowledging guests even when busy.
