Director of Accounting

Description We are looking for a Director of Accounting to join our team in MENANDS, New York. This role involves overseeing a team of about 15 accounting professionals, managing financial operations, and driving change initiatives. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity in the healthcare industry.Responsibilities: Oversee the Accounting Manager, three accountants, and the AP/Purchasing team. Handle the accounts payable (AP) processes, which are currently manual and paper-driven. Supervise the implementation of Workday and other changes aimed at improving processes. Manage the handling of grants, especially those related to health research work. Oversee all financial operations, including accounts receivable (AR), auditing, and budget processes. Handle resistance to change among team members and drive change management initiatives. Ensure accurate processing of customer credit applications and maintenance of customer credit records. Monitor customer accounts and take necessary actions based on account status. Provide hands-on leadership during periods of transition and restructuring. Requirements Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. Extensive experience in auditing and budget processes. Proficiency in using Workday for financial management tasks. Demonstrated ability in change management. Experience in grant accounting. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly desirable. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Proven track record of improving financial processes and systems within an organization.
