THE POSITION

The Department of Education is seeking a dedicated Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 2 (Family and Consumer Sciences Education) to complete our team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to lead and direct statewide efforts to develop, improve, and expand career and technical education programs that fall within the related family and consumer sciences clusters. If you are interested in ensuring a skilled workforce is maintained through quality career and technical education, this is the job for you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 2, you will be responsible for developing career and technical education (CTE) policy, standards, curricula, and program guidelines as related to Family and Consumer Sciences along with culinary, baking, and childcare CTE programs. Work includes analyzing current practices and concerns, recommending suggestions for improvements, advising the field on current initiatives, as well as preparing reports and contracts. You will have the opportunity to serve as the lead worker and expert regarding statewide development, maintenance, and implementation of established policies. Additional responsibilities may include:

Developing, maintaining, and implementing teacher preparation programs

Participating in competitive grant writing and reviews

Participating in adult and postsecondary accreditation and civil rights monitoring visits

Serving on local, state, or national boards, committees, consortiums, business, and education partnerships related to CTEInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in theposition description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office on Wednesday each week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to 607 South Drive, Harrisburg.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 1 in the same parenthetical; or

Five years of professional career and technical education experience in the area of the parenthetical, including two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs; or

An equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training in the area of the parenthetical, which includes two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs.Other Requirements:

This particular position also requires applicants to possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional career and technical education experience in a 9-12 or postsecondary environment.

PA residency requirementis currently waived for this title.
