Part Time Elementary Recess Aide

Role Overview:Recess Aides primarily provide general supervision of elementary-aged children during outdoor (or indoor) recess, helping to ensure that recess is a safe, joyful experience for students. Candidates for this position should enjoy engaging with children and have some experience supporting children in school, after/before school, summer camp, and/or daycare settings. Recess Monitor must be all weekdays; hours vary a bit by school, but typically include mid-morning to afternoon hours (10:00am-2:00pm or 11:00am-3:00pm). Key Responsibilities:Provide quality supervision of children, including but not limited to:Providing children with clear directions and expectations, upholding and reinforcing schoolwide behavior systemsPositively redirecting students who are struggling to meet behavior expectations to get them back on track quicklyCreating opportunities for collaborative play (organizing or facilitating games, suggesting activities, etc.) while maintaining supervision of whole groupEnsuring children are able to enjoy a recess free from bullyingCommunicating with school-based staff regarding any student concerns or recess needsBringing out play equipment and ensure the play yard is tidied up after recessOther relevant duties as assigned by the School Principal
