Job Summary: The Stable Manager is responsible for managing stable operations of a 30 animal family owned boarding facility on 40 acres. We are located near a growing community in western South Dakota. Primary responsibilities are to ensure a high standard of animal care and effective operational efficiency. Candidate must be highly skilled in all aspects of horsemanship. The ideal candidate will also be proficient at schedule management, employee supervision, enforcement of safety protocols and property upkeep.

Task Related Skills:

Perform and/or supervise daily tasks such as; feed and water horses, muck stalls, turn-outs.

Repair or replace broken facility equipment and fencing.

Monitor feed and supplies inventory levels.

Manage and monitor horse turn-out and exercise schedules.

Maintain barn and horse records.

Enforce safety and health procedures for employees, horses, and boarders.

Animal Health Skills:

Ensure effective daily monitoring of horse health.

Provide assistance with veterinary and farrier care.

Coordinate/schedule routine veterinary and farrier care .

Ensure horses have up-to-date vaccinations, keep accurate vaccination records.

Staff Related Skills:

Supervise employee performance.

Manage employee schedules and review periodic payroll sheets.

Interview staffing candidates to ensure a good fit for the position.

Provide training on proper animal care and monitoring techniques, including feeding and cleaning procedures, proper safety procedures, work ethics, and communication skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
