One or more of the following certifications or licenses: Architect License, Interior Design, and/or NCARB Registration.
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in either architecture or interior design.
Four (4) years’ experience in managing facilities planning, programming, pre-design, space planning.
Experience in project estimating and budgeting.
Knowledge of sustainability, urban design, and/or land use.
Experience coordinating a variety of project assignments of various sizes, levels of complexity and scope, alongside Project Managers and Stakeholders.
Experience reading and understanding architectural specifications and plans; developing and producing schematic renderings of interior restoration design and layout.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the documentation and renovation of buildings built from1907 to present.
Experience with sustainability, green build, or LEED .
Experience with local building codes, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, zoning and entitlements, applications to TDLR , related regulations; and Understanding of municipality institutional master planning.
Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems, such as Revit, Sketchup, and/or other space data software.
Job DescriptionThis position provides expertise and assistance on all aspects of campus and space planning; applies advanced concepts and objectives to resolve complex challenges, and evaluates needs, develops programs, and recommends alternative solutions/strategies relating to campus space planning.Job DutiesThe Interior Space Planner is responsible for the following:
Develop short and long-range plans related to campus environments and assists in providing relevant data for capital budgeting.
Leads feasibility studies for major renovations as well as campus development projects.
Pre-project planning, including program development, test fits, application of space allocation metrics, preliminary cost estimates, identification of initial code and zoning requirements, scheduling, enabling constraints, and campus impact.
Develops and/or collaborates with consultants in the development of detailed program documents that serve as the basis for project scoping and design.
Assists in developing capital project scopes, budgets and timelines.
Prepares reports and presentations on complex planning issues.
Assists in the development of the university’s comprehensive capital plan.
Develops project narratives, budgets, schedules, and other reports and documents, while working closely with the Director of Facilities Planning, Design and Construction.
Provides subject matter and expertise regarding campus planning, space planning, and space allocation during appropriate project phases.
Develops project scopes; prepares RFQs/RFPs; participates in the selection of planning, architectural, landscape design, and engineering firms.
The Interior Space Planner utilizes the the following experience:
Experience with Accessibility and Life Safety Codes, including interior space design and accessibility upgrades.
Experience with space requirements, efficiencies, planning, inventories, and budgeting, including development of related stacking diagrams, and including building amenity upgrades & and overall management of building use.
Experience working with consultants on initial furniture planning and specifications; Development and creation of finish boards with samples of materials/fabrics; and directing interior finish design selection and development for presentations to executive leadership.
Experience developing furniture specification sheets and installation schedules to include coordinating and providing furniture fixture and equipment (FF&E) lists; developing specification and bid documentation with university Project Managers and Procurement Staff; performing complete review and assessment of FF&E; reviewing, assessing, and assisting with oversight and scheduling installation timeframes with university Project Managers, Construction Managers, and General Contractors.
Experience with office/departmental moves that include furniture planning, coordination, delivery, and installation.
