DescriptionSpecialization:Surgery TransplantSurgery GeneralSurgery Acute CareJob Summary:Seeking an experienced (preferred) physician assistant/nurse practitioner to join the Kidney Transplant Services located on the campus of Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. The practice will consider APPs with at least a nursing work history in an acute care setting (prefer some ICU experience).Qualified Candidates:
Duties will include: caring for patients in the outpatient clinic and hospital settings
Participatin in an after-hours/weekend transplant call rotation is required
Some transplant experience is preferred
Communicates effectively with physicians, hospital staff, director, and other healthcare disciplines to facilitate prompt and accurate patient care.
Analyzes pertinent data, communicates findings with surgeon and/or other physicians, documents information and assumes accountability for decisions and actions of a hospitalized patient.
Coordinates and facilitates the pre and peri operative processes upon notification of organ availability for a specific patient under the direction of the supervising surgeon.
Treats hospitalized patient as supported by licensure under the direction of surgeon/physician and transplant center guidelines and within own competency.
Assists in the care coordination of the acutely ill kidney transplant patient to facilitate communication and treatment with the surgeon and other consultants as needed.
Plans follow-up care in collaboration with the attending physician, surgeon, and other healthcare disciplines as required.
Educates patient and family regarding immediate and long term needs related to the post kidney transplant population.
