The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) org is responsible for driving Microsoft cloud & AI capacity, margin excellence and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft’s portfolio. Within MSIO, the Investment Optimization Strategy finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across 100K engineering FTEs are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities.We currently have an opening for a Senior Finance Manager to join the MSIO Experiences + Devices (E+D) / Technology & Research (T&R) / Microsoft AI (MSAI) Central Finance team, partnering with Finance leaders and teams within the MSIO organization. The E+D, T&R and MSAI engineering groups instill a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices, bringing Windows, Office, third-party applications and devices into a more cohesive Microsoft 365 experience, Microsoft R&D center and the newly formed Microsoft AI organization.As a member of the E+D/T&R/MSAI Central Finance team, The Senior Finance Manager will support the orchestration and consolidation of resources across E+D, T&R and Microsoft AI. This covers a wide range of responsibilities which includes various modeling and business analysis, finance partnership, and the creation and ownership of efficient financial processes. Business and Finance Partnership : Provide strategic leadership to top Engineering and Finance leaders to drive operating leverage through resource allocation and investment optimization by giving visibility to the current resource landscape, analyzing macro-level results, and applying systems thinking to identify and recommend levers to influence decision-making.
Business Health : Drive process excellence while partnering across Engineering and Finance to continuously assess the overall health of the business and understand key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs. Ensure resources and investments are constantly aligned with business strategy, product engineering roadmaps, and company priorities.
Resource Analysis : builds a cohesive story by incorporating business insights through resource allocation, workforce planning as well as understanding the connection between resource allocation with the overall financial performance. Analyzes results to understand performance against plan/forecast, monitors trends and key levers to support various rhythm of the business and finance.
Resource Modeling and Reporting : owns, maintains, and improves resource allocation across the E+D, T&R and MSAI Engineering teams at the worldwide level. Publishes executive-grade monthly resource summary, highlighting risks, opportunities and key drivers. Delivers resource reviews with Finance leaders, clearly communicating results and recommendations. Automates and improves reporting processes as much as possible within the confines of available tools.
Thought Leadership : Leverage holistic analytical framework and best practices across Finance to spot and anticipate trends and deliver insights to unlock greater efficiencies for resource allocation and investment spend.

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
OR equivalent experience

Financial analysis experience in a high-tech company
Driven, self-starter, capable of effectively prioritizing and operating with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced and changing environment
Proven ability to partner, build trust, communicate with, and influence executives; ability to make the complex simple and influence through effective storytelling

Interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills. Ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment
Proficiency combining, structuring, and mining large volumes of data from disparate sources using tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL etc.
Skilled Excel user familiar with advanced functions and charting capabilities
Understanding the technology industry, particularly in commercial cloud services, business models and economics
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
