We’re hiring an aspiring Lead Deck Carpenter.
This is someone who has talent, works efficiently, and may not have everything figured out yet — but wants to grow into being competent enough to run a job site without supervision over the course of the next year.
We’re looking for the right balance of efficient and meticulous — someone who is actively growing their skills and wants to step into a lead role.
Decks are some of the most fun projects you can build. We like to do good work and have a good time doing it.
Most of our projects are really, really nice decks in West Seattle. The crew is mellow and easy-going. We have diverse interests, but the main thing we’re stoked about is building cool projects together.
In our view, everyone is responsible for paving the way for the next person.
Your PM should set you up for success with detailed plans and accurate, well-thought-out takeoffs, and a lead carpenter should line out the crew with tasks that match each person’s skill level.
If you look through our portfolio, you’ll notice that about 1 in 5 projects are higher-end, “feather-in-our-cap” builds, while the other 4 are slightly higher-end builder decks. This role requires the skill to do nice work and the discernment to work efficiently when appropriate.
Who You Are
You have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
You have your own tools
You have at least 5 years of experience and have probably built a few decks and understand framing
You can work independently or on a team
You’re a quick learner with a strong work ethic and solid foundational skills
And of course — you’re jazzed about building decks
