Job Purpose
As a Carpenter, Westsound is looking for a reliable individual with integrity and with knowledge of commercial construction. Westsound’s primary areas of focus include structural concrete work, concrete tilt-up, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), wood/metal framing, and rough and finish carpentry.
Roles and Responsibilities
-Ability to arrive on time to projects ready to work
-Participate in all phases of the construction process
-Openness to learning new means/methods of construction
-Meet goals and expectations laid out by supervisors on a daily and weekly basis
-Follow instructions as well as provide direction for apprentices and laborers
-Have understanding in construction safety standards and implement on jobsite
-Have understanding in construction building regulations and codes
-Read and understand site civil, structural, and architectural plans
-Have a strong understanding in the use of power tools and some specialty tools
-Have a strong understanding of construction math such as geometry
-Ability to communicate and plan ahead for material and equipment needs
-Layout and set up batter boards for structure and civil
-Ability to form complex concrete formwork
-Ability to frame walls, floors and roof structures
-Understanding of PEMB systems such as erection, siding, and roofing

-Commercial construction experience
-Able to follow directions quickly and efficiently
-Able to work effectively with a team
-Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation
Physical Requirements
-Ability to stand and walk for an 8–12-hour day
-Ability to lift 50 lbs., including overhead
-Ability to perform physical and repetitive motions
-Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
-Requires vision and hearing abilities
Required Tools and Equipment
-Standard carpenter tools and tool bags
-Cordless drill and impacting drill with bit set and drill set
-Metal erection tools; socket set (1/2” -3/4”), socket wrenches (1/2”-3/4”), breaker bar, alignment pry bar, spud
wrench (up to 2”).
-C clamps and bar clamps
-Basic concrete finishing tools
-Pop-rivet gun
Site Required Personal Protective Equipment
-Protective eyewear and Hard hat (provided by Westsound)
-Respirator
-Gloves
-Ankle Supportive work boots
-Ear protection (provided by Westsound)
-High visibility clothing
Additional Training/Certification
-OSHA 10
-First Aid/CPR
-Forklift certification
-Mobile Elevated Work Platform Certification (Scissor and boom lift)
-Rigging and signaling (preferred)
