Program Overview The FMS/D software is a portable, user-friendly, real-time, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), digital simulation of the various PATRIOT radar, launcher, and missile configurations. FMS/D's diversity allows the system to be used in several applications, from working in a laboratory environment or deployed in a field environment to tie a tactical PATRIOT ECS into a common threat architecture, while supporting Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) ground tests, to augmenting training and the exercising of Gunnery Tables I-XII in air battles. While FMS/D is the main Software Product out Lab is responsible for, it is actually part of a suite of Software Products developed by the FMS/D Lab that simulate other parts of the PATRIOT weapon system. The FMS/D program produces highly visible products used around the world for training of soldiers on the PATRIOT weapon system, and to test other systems that interoperate with PATRIOT. Duties and Responsibilities:- Responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining various PATRIOT related HWIL component simulations, including but not limited to Flight Mission Simulator Digital (FMS/D), Launcher on the Net (LOTN), and LINK - LIM (L2) simulator.
- Work with an Agile development team using effective communication, while following and helping to refine our process.
- Provide leadership and share knowledge with less experienced developers and peers.
- Provide code review of less experienced developers and peers.
- Document your work for the benefit of your teammates, the user, leadership, and posterity.
- Identify and solve challenging problems by writing performant, elegant, and practical code.
- Provide in-person, phone, and email support to our customers in support of any of our three software products.
- Expected to be proactive in helping to keep our Software Products as modern as possible.
- Professional software engineering experience, working on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science topics including; object-oriented design, algorithms, computer networks, and data structures with primary emphasis on C/C using Red Hat/CentOS/Linux knowledge
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and comfort working on shared projects with designers, testers, and other developers
- Eclipse IDE or VS Code knowledge
- DevOps/Agile Process using GitLab
- CMAKE knowledge
- GTK GUI knowledge
- WireShark, tshark or other data capture knowledge
- Serval years of developing real-time, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), and/or digital simulation software.
- Knowledge of PATRIOT radar, launcher, and missile configurations.
- Knowledge of Tactical Data Links (e.g. Link-16, JREAP, DIS, VMF, XML, etc.) and the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) test environment.
- Knowledge of Test Driven Development and Unit Testing of Software.
