STEAM Aviation Instructor and Design – Lead Instructor - Under the supervision of the Campus Director, the Lead Instructor will work with Alaska Native/American Indian students in various settings, both in and out of the STEAM program. The Lead Instructor will provide a safe and orderly environment for youth to learn specific STEAM skills. The Lead Instructor is also responsible for instruction, building culturally relevant and innovative activities and collaborating with STEAM staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

Lead and work collaboratively with others to ensure program goals and objectives are met.

Plan and participate in group cultural activities and special events/field trips scheduled throughout the academic year.

Leads the development of all lessons and submits weekly plan for in-class activities to the director.

Learn and implement research-based teaching methods.

Propose and manage the appropriate division of weekly tasks for the staff in the program.

Lead in the development of program planning and set schedules for all camps and afternoon programs.

Develop team member skills and knowledge base regarding culturally appropriate lessons and applicable educational standards.

Collaborate with others to prototype fun and engaging projects that showcase team members skills and knowledge.

Collaborates with all other Tribal programs regarding cross-program planning and activities for students.

Works with media team to fulfill requests related to flyers and filming in order to meet program needs.

Works with appropriate staff in monitoring and processing class and camp registrations for children and youth participants enrolled in all program offerings.

Attain part 107 certification. Supervise and/or teach flight simulations.

Utilize different databases to access student activities, maintain student records, and communicate information regarding student progress.

Ensures efficient program data collection, including but not limited to all grade and testing scores for quarterly grant reporting and submits to manager/director.

Record data as required for grant measures, goals, and objectives.

Monitory participants progress and update education plans.

Ensure regular communication to all program participants.

Motivate and encourage students to excel.

Assist with the recruitment of new students, and public relations efforts for the program.

Transport students to class sites, on field trips, cultural camps, or other locations as necessary.

Keep a safe and clean environment.

Completes all purchasing and inventory of supplies for classes and camps on a regular basis.

Ensures all space reservations, van reservations, and any additional space requirements for the program are reserved in a timely manner.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, management or related fields of study.

One (1) year experience or related training in design and fabrication with 3D printing.

Preferred experience in electronics, solder and circuitry.

Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of state and federal background check in compliance with the 1990 Indian Child Protection Act.

Valid Alaska Driver’s License and be insurable under Knik Tribe’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver be at least 21 years of age.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00pm

Salary: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
