Residential Solar & Battery Installer – Team Lead / Electrical Lead

Pay: $40/hour (W2 or 1099)


Job Type: Full-Time
Location: All of Greater Phoenix Area, occasional travel to Tucson, Prescott, Sedona, Payson, etc.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Residential Solar & Battery Installer – Team Lead / Electrical Lead to lead installation crews across solar PV, energy storage systems (ESS), service calls, and full removal/reinstall projects. This position requires strong solar and electrical expertise, the ability to lead teams safely, and a focus on high-quality workmanship and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Solar PV Installation

Lead installation of residential rooftop and ground-mount solar systems.

Install racking, modules, wiring, inverters, grounding, conduit, and BOS components.

Review and interpret plans, SLDs, equipment specs, and permit documents.

Battery & Energy Storage Systems

Install, wire, and commission residential battery storage systems (e.g., Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, SolarEdge, ESS, etc.).

Complete backup panel work, gateway/smart switch installations, and whole-home or partial-home backup setups.

Test and verify functionality, perform firmware updates, and complete system commissioning.

Service Work

Diagnose and repair system issues: production problems, inverter faults, wiring issues, monitoring failures, etc.

Perform inspections, troubleshooting, warranty replacements, and homeowner support visits.

Document findings, provide recommendations, and complete job reports/photos.

Removal & Reinstallation (R&R)

Lead full system removals for roofing work including safe disconnecting, labeling, and storing equipment.

Reinstall systems with updated code compliance, new hardware as needed, and proper testing.

Coordinate with roofers, homeowners, and internal teams on timelines and expectations.

Team Leadership

Supervise installation crews; delegate tasks, monitor quality, and maintain job-site safety.

Train and mentor junior installers on solar, batteries, service, and electrical best practices.

Ensure daily job logs, photos, material tracking, and communication with project managers.

Maintain high efficiency while upholding quality and safety standards.

Electrical Lead Duties

Perform all electrical work associated with solar PV and ESS installations.

Ensure NEC compliance, proper grounding/bonding, and AHJ/utility requirements.

Troubleshoot electrical components and complete system energizations.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce OSHA standards and company safety protocols.

Conduct site assessments, hazard identification, and correct PPE usage.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

3–5+ years solar installation experience with advanced electrical/lead responsibilities.

Experience installing battery storage systems (Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, etc.).

Strong understanding of NEC, residential electrical systems, rapid shutdown, and interconnection methods.

Ability to read and interpret plans, SLDs, and wiring diagrams.

Experience with service calls, troubleshooting, and system diagnosis.

Comfortable on roofs, ladders, and in attics.

Valid driver’s license; clean driving record.

Preferred: NABCEP certification, journeyman/electrical license (if applicable in your state).

Physical Requirements:

Lift 50–75 lbs regularly.

Work on roofs, in crawl spaces/attics, and outdoors in varying weather.

Standing, climbing, bending, kneeling for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits:

$40/hour (W2 or 1099)
