In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by: SCOPE: The Senior Project Manager manages engineering, manufacturing, and/or construction projects for the water and reclamation industry. This position assists our clients to develop important projects which will rehabilitate, manufacture and construct water/reclamation distribution, storage, and treatment infrastructure. Supports and adheres to the Smyth Industries Policies and Procedures, Safety Compliance, and Values.Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Projects

Provides project management on a variety of construction projects simultaneously, from conception through completion, which involves developing project schedules, monitoring project progress and budget, preparing, and maintaining project files, monitoring quality of projects, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Projects include water infrastructure to private and public water utilities and mining clients including water master plans, wells, pipelines, storage tanks, pressure vessels, and water pump stations.

Provides effective and timely project communication, both orally and in writing, and ability to represent the company in meetings and presentations to municipal and private industry clients, other governmental agencies, utilities, the mining industry, and the public.

Exhibits the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.

Leads the project team to execute projects on time and on budget.

Oversees the technical work products of staff and field engineers and others performing technical tasks to support water/reclamation projects.

Coordinates with client and project team to develop project proposals/work plans and budgets, including assigning tasks to internal team, tracking required responses, and performing follow-up.

Coordinates with customer, client, and project team to develop comprehensive plan for construction project start-up and successful kick-off.

Coordinates in a timely manner with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to deliver projects, utilizing internal project tools and processes for tracking and follow-up activities.

Coordinates efforts with project owner and other parts of the organization as required to meet project schedule.

Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, reviewing construction and fabrication projects for quality and conformance to plans and specifications, and verifying calculations and placements.

Assigns, directs, trains, and reviews the work of engineers and para-professional employees.

Establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing client service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and other stakeholders.

Exhibits technical knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of construction related to water and reclamation projects.

Works with the Engineering team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs.

People

Develops and provides training in Project Management processes and tools and related topics for engineering and Project Management staff throughout the organization.

Provides coaching and mentoring in the Project Management discipline to support staff development and growth.

Participates in professional and technical training opportunities for staff, including developing and presenting training in areas of expertise.

Supports professional and technical development of team members through annual reviews, goal setting, and regular meetings with direct reports and others in the department.

Provides ongoing day-to-day feedback and coaching of direct reports to support their work efforts and communication throughout the company.

Leads counseling and development conversations with direct reports as required for performance issues.

Provides administrative functions related to direct reports, including time and expense, PTO, attendance, etc.

Business Development/Marketing

Participates in construction engineering-related marketing and business development efforts, including:

networking at industry events

developing and managing client relationships

developing individual pursuit strategies

Lead the preparation of responses to proposal requests and RFQs.

Establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing client service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and other stakeholders.

Be a Brand Ambassador for a company who believes in diversity and inclusion.

Organizational

Develops Project Management systems, processes, and tools and assists in implementation of same across the organization.

Utilizes and supports development of methodologies and tools required for successful execution of construction projects.

Supports the development and maintenance of well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies, and standards throughout the project life cycle.

Actively looks for ways, and reinforce the actions needed, to improve performance within the organization Ability to thrive in a team environment that encourages cooperation, communication, and mutual sharing of risk, responsibility, and reward, while developing and managing others on engineering projects.

Minimum Qualifications :

5 years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.

5 years Project Management experience.

Bachelor’s degree in civil/construction engineering, or any relevant degree.

Arizona Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Civil/Construction Engineering.

Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.

Required to pass a preemployment drug screening.

Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or standing for prolonged periods of time.

Required to wear company supplied Personal Protective Equipment.

The applicant should be comfortable working around industrial equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of Water Infrastructure or related industry experience.

10+ years Project Management experience.

Master’s or advanced degree in civil/construction engineering or any relevant degree.

Water System Planning and Modeling Experience.

Experience in Procore and Primavera scheduling software.

Change management experience.

Experience leading coworkers.

Strong knowledge in water and reclamation construction

Bilingual (Spanish)
