We have a team environment that focuses on the greater good, resulting in a fantastic place to work that positively impacts our business partners and community.Job Summary The Construction Cement Mason will place and finish concrete such as floors, decks, roads, paths, walkways, sidewalks, curbs, walls, gutters, drain-inlet, and catch basins. These tasks are done in conjunction with forming, stripping, chipping, stoning, patching, or sacking.Reports to Foreman, Superintendent, and General SuperintendentKey Communication PartnersForeman, Superintendent, and General SuperintendentTypical Duties

Rod, spread, level, tamp, and smooth concrete using a rake, shovel, float, trowel, power trowel, or power screed

Monitor wind, heat, or cold effects on the setting and curing of the concrete throughout the entire process

Produce smooth to rough concrete surfaces using screeds, floats, trowels, and brooms

Mold joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straight edges.

Clean chipped areas using a hand and power tools to surface finish as determined by the job requirements and as instructed by supervisor

Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring of concrete and move chute to direct concrete into forms or pump hopper

Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete and waterproof or restore surface

Operate power vibrator to consolidate concrete

Chip, scrape, or grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, and hand tools

Wet concrete surfaces, rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specific finish

Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth using a trowel

Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete or pattern stamp the surface to provide decorative finish.

Push roller over setting concrete to embed aggregate, chips, or other in surface

Polish surface using a surfacing machine

Apply muriatic acid or other to clean surface of finished concrete

Sprinkle colored marble, stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder over surface to produce prescribed finish

Spray on concrete surface and wash off release agents from concrete to achieve desired finishes as instructed by supervisor

Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete grout or slurry using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete mixing machine

Operate laser screed, laser level, mechanical finishers, concrete paving machines, concrete saws, and slip form machines

Set concrete forms and perimeter forms, including catch basin structures, drain inlets, curb forms, including stripping and finishing of wet concrete surfaces as may apply

Perform general physical activities that may include climbing, lifting, balance, walking, stopping, or kneeling. This job requires standing, kneeling, and bending for long periods of time

Use either control mechanisms or direct contact to operating machines or processes

Monitor and review information to detect or assess problems

Determine when tools are not functioning properly and are in need of replacement or repair

Maintains a safety-first culture and actively participates in the “Safety Buck” program

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred and currently registered in a union apprenticeship program and have completed a union apprenticeship programLanguage Skills: Have an understanding of English as associated with the jobsite safety and the typical duties required of this positionMathematical Skills: Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionReasoning Ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
