Software Engineer- Platform as a Service

As a Software Engineer on the Kubernetes Platform Engineering team, you will help build, deploy, and operate large-scale Kubernetes clusters that power Visa’s internal platform services. This role offers hands-on experience with Kubernetes internals, distributed systems, and platform tooling while contributing to the engineering of Visa’s internal Kubernetes distribution. You will work closely with senior engineers and architects, gaining mentorship and exposure to infrastructure at scale.ResponsibilitiesAssist in building, enhancing, and managing Open-Source Kubernetes distributions for Visa’s internal workloads.Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.Contribute to the design and implementation of Kubernetes Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and operators.Participate in troubleshooting Linux and container runtime issues related to Kubernetes environments.Collaborate with architects and senior engineers during design, code reviews, and proof-of-concept initiatives.Write clean, reliable, and maintainable code, spending the majority of your time in hands-on development.Contribute to improving developer workflows, automation, and operational efficiency within the platform.Learn and adopt best practices for modern DevOps models, Infrastructure as Code, and distributed system design.Participate in team knowledge sharing and contribute to Visa’s growing technology presence internally and externally.
