JOB OVERVIEW
The Data Systems Analyst applies data and information system management concepts, department and campus methodologies, policies and procedures to provide database and data analytic and visualization tools that support the university's research and medical education mission. Works on data and information management problems of moderate scope and complexity applying analyses of data and information requirements to deliver data analytic, research and reporting tools. Conducts needs assessment and gathers knowledge of business processes, and program operation and accreditation reporting requirements by collaborating closely with subject matter experts. Using data model and data normalizing techniques to compile and validate data from various data sources. Assist with data hosting and data warehouse management. Develop and maintain simple to moderately complex databases. Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards such as Tableau and/or Qlikview for end user and departmental needs. Assists and provides support to various medical education departments to implement and use applications and information systems. Implements and adheres to HIPAA privacy guidelines, UC data governance and information security policies.

About the Department: The Information Technology Services (ITS) department provides comprehensive technology support to the UCSF Fresno campus including core system infrastructure, enterprise systems, education technology, medical education support, AV and digital media services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training / certifications
Knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards
Knowledge relating to logical data design, data warehouse design, data integration or the management of web content or other unstructured data
Knowledge of various types of data models such as logical / relational models, dimensional models and document models
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining SQL and related databases
Intermediate knowledge of relevant security guidelines and HIPAA rules and regulations
Ability to prepare simple data models under guidance of more senior professionals
Ability to identify, extract and query moderate to complex data sets
Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from university department research and academic processes to understand information flows in computer systems
Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines
Demonstrated service orientation skills
Strong organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in information systems, programing or related area
Tableau certification
Two years of experience developing and maintaining SQL or current equivalent databases
Familiarity with Tableau dashboard development
Familiarity with Qlikview dashboard development
Knowledge of Epic electronic health record system, clarity reporting and date structures
