Forestry Crew Foreman

Pay rate: $30-35/hour, depending on experience and certifications

Position Description:

Seeking qualified and experienced forestry foreman. Full-time employment. Pay starts at $30 per hour but can go up depending on performance.

Need clean driving record.

Need to have own transportation.

MUST BE A LEADER.

MUST be comfortable giving and recieving directions.

About the job: Must be capable of working on steep terrain, in hot weather, and long days (8-10 hours). Duties would mainly be cutting trees (small and large) and brush with chainsaws and working with or around a wood chipper and pile burning. Must be able to stay out of town for a week to two weeks at a time. Must wear PPE at all times.

Additional Duties:

Planning daily operations in conjunction with managers.

Leading, motivating, and supervising teams and individuals.

Organizing training.

On-site health and safety management.

Dealing with day-to-day problems such as machinery breakdowns.

Able to lift at least 50 pounds to shoulder height.

Ability to climb at least 40’ up a rope and climb a tree (not required).

Additional requirements:

Drivers license required.

Must have reliable transportation.

Having a wildland fire background is a plus!

Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential!

Qualifications:

3 years of experience in practical natural resource management (tree felling, brush removal, tree planting).

Knowledge of general resource management principles, and conservation techniques.

Map reading and tree identification a must.

Must have ability to:

Understand instructions to carry out assignments as directed by supervisor.

Work independently or in a group setting to effectively perform collaborative tasks.

Communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the public to effectively share information.

Adapt to changing work demands, priorities, and environments to meet programs needs.

Organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments in a timely and efficient manner to meet program objectives.

Understand and employ excellent safety practices and exercise situation awareness to ensure personal and employee safety.

Perform work with attention to detail in an accurate and thorough manner to meet our objectives.

Perform arduous and physically demanding work in all weather conditions and terrains.

Willingness to work long and irregular hours, to work in remote parts of the state and to be away for weeks at a time.
