WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Controller, you will oversee and manage all core accounting functions, financial reporting, cost accounting, compliance, and financial controls across JDI Distribution and its subsidiary brands. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial statements, timely month-end close, disciplined cash flow management, strong inventory and COGS accuracy, and the development of scalable financial processes. Please note that this position is IN-Position only; we do not offer remote or hybrid work options.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Reporting and Month-End Close:
Oversee and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Maintain the general ledger and ensure GAAP compliance.
Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, credit cards, and inter-company accounts.
Provide monthly financial packages for leadership review.
Support external CPA firm with year-end reporting needs.
- Cost Accounting and Inventory Management:
Own cost accounting for all manufactured and packaged products.
Maintain and refine standard costs, BOMs, overhead rates, and production allocations.
Conduct variance analysis (purchase price, labor, yield, scrap, overhead).
Ensure accurate COGS and inventory valuation across facilities.
Partner closely with Production, Warehousing, Purchasing & Supply Chain.
Support SKU profitability analysis and costing updates.
- Cash Flow, Budgeting, and Forecasting:
Monitor cash flow daily, weekly, and monthly.
Prepare forward-looking cash forecasts for leadership.
Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles.
Manage AP and AR oversight to support cash needs.
Accounting Operations and Controls:
- Oversee AP, AR, credit card management, and vendor payments.
Ensure internal controls are designed, implemented, and adhered to.
Manage state tax filings (monthly/quarterly/annual), including sales tax reporting.
Support payroll process from an accounting perspective (not HR execution).
Improve accounting systems, processes, and reporting efficiency.
Recommend and implement finance best practices.
- Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership:
Serve as the primary financial liaison to the CEO and leadership team.
Partner with Operations on production costing, inventory, and business controls.
Collaborate with Sales on customer terms, financial escalations, and margin insights.
Assist the CEO in evaluating new business opportunities and financial impacts.
Support future FP&A function development.
- Audit, Compliance, and External Relations:
Prepare audit and tax support schedules for CPA partners.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific financial regulations.
Manage banking relationships and financial documentation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong cost accounting experience in manufacturing/CPG (required).
- Strong understanding of inventory, BOMs, and COGS.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
