As a Building Maintenance Job Coach for adults with Disabilities, you will play a vital role in supporting

individuals with disabilities in acquiring, maintaining, and succeeding in building maintenance positions.

Your primary objective will be to provide personalized assistance, guidance, and advocacy to help

participants overcome barriers and achieve their employment goals in the building maintenance field.

● Conducts self-building inspections on a daily basis and documents anything that is not in

compliance for repairs at all locations.

● Reviews the building repairs spreadsheet daily to address any repairs needed.

● Check all fire extinguishers and eye wash stations on a monthly basis at all locations.

● Provide hands-on instruction in a variety of maintenance tasks, such as general repairs in the

buildings and equipment, including locks, doors, drains, restroom required repairs, shelving,

replaces light bulbs and fuses; and documents repairs on work orders.

● Request three quotes for big repair orders and submits to management for approval.

● Creates order list for supplies needed for the repairs and once approved by management then

orders the supplies.

● Creates reports on repair work by location.

● Inventory of all tools and supplies on spreadsheet.

● Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different disabilities, ensuring that all

participants can fully engage and learn.

● Assess individual participants' skills and progress, providing constructive feedback and

personalized support as needed.

● Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, work performance and goal progress for

case managers.

● Responsible for monthly worksite training data.

● Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position, and be punctual.

● Facilitate monthly scheduled safety meetings and evacuation drills with consumers.

● Accurately document information needed for billing purposes.

● Responsible for submitting required CARF paperwork, including vehicle inspection checklist, to

case managers at the end of the month.

● Maintain positive relations with all stakeholders while professionally representing ACI.

● Provide ongoing support and coaching to participants, helping them adjust to their roles, navigate

workplace challenges, and develop job-related skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Recipients must have general knowledge on all facets of building and maintenance and ability to use and

care for building tools and equipment. Recipients must have ability to work with other trades people

including but not limited to plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and external contractors as well as work

independently on a wide variety of building maintenance tasks, maintain records and reports; instruct and

lead others as needed. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to be a self-starter,

while working as an effective team player. Training, experience and/or certifications in crafts areas.

Possess high school diploma or equivalent, vocational training or certificate such as HVAC technician

certification are a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Position requires frequent travel to other ACI locations. Possess a valid

California Drivers’ License (Class C). Has a good driving record. Ability to operate a variety of motorized

equipment/vehicles. Excellent communication, grammar and interpersonal skills. CPR and First Aid

certificate required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Common methods, practices, and materials used in maintenance and repair work of buildings and

building facilities; various tools used in building maintenance and repair work and their proper

employment and care. Skilled in problem solving matters that may arise and create solutions; basic

mathematical skills and operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth

perception; hand and finger dexterity. Duties and responsibilities performed normally do require physical

requirements including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and carrying, pushing, pulling and requires

medium heavy level of lifting and pushing and pulling of machinery which is up to 75 lbs and frequent

lifting of up to 50 lbs. employees, and can use various equipment including carts to lift heavy items, and

can ask for assistance with lifting if items are too heavy. Typical work activities involve frequent grasping

of tools and objects, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and reaching at below and above shoulder

level.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment is typical of a factory; the noise level varies moderate to high, and the work areas

are not climate controlled. You’ll encounter moving mechanical parts and machine vibrations; powered

equipment; compressed air; propane powered forklift; pallets and shelving of material. Works either

indoor, outdoor or warehouse environment; is exposed to various chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, heat,

cold, wind and seasonal changes in climate. Works well under pressure of deadlines
