We are a fast-growing California Workers’ Compensation defense firm seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. Key Responsibilities
Manage a full caseload of California WC defense files from start to finish
Draft emails, reports, status letters, analysis letters, and litigation plans for carrier clients
Conduct depositions of applicants, doctors, and witnesses
Appear at WCAB hearings (status conferences, MSCs, trials, expedited hearings)
Evaluate cases for settlement and prepare settlement documents (C&Rs, Stips)
Communicate regularly with claims adjusters, employer clients, and opposing counsel
Review and analyze medical reports, PQME/AME records, discovery responses, and surveillance
Prepare PD ratings for PQME/AME reports
Develop and execute legal strategies to drive files toward resolution
Ensure timely and accurate billing in accordance with client guidelines
Qualifications
Active California Bar membership in good standing
1–7 years of California Workers’ Compensation defense experience preferred
Strong writing, research, and communication skills
Ability to handle deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently
Familiarity with EAMS filing, WCAB procedures, and AMA Guides 5th edition
Experience with depositions and WC hearings preferred but not required
