The Quality Data Analyst-Cardiovascular is responsible for the accurate data abstraction, management, and reporting of data for process improvement, review of quality outcomes, and/or for reporting to regulatory agencies. This position also supports the Quality Assessment Department needs relative to organization and communication.Required Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

1 Year experience working with data, reporting, data analysis, and/or database management.

Preferred Qualifications

Other Educational background consistent with computer systems and analysis.

Experience in statistics and performance improvement concepts.

Experience or familiarity with organizations relevant to the department.

1 Year Previous patient experience.

Essential Functions

Act as a ConsultantMeets as frequently as required to coordinate and assist in the data collection needs of all customers served.Creates reports for all customers served as appropriate to support data analysis.Reports are presented in a functional and usable fashion which allows for interpretation and conclusions to be drawn.

Database ManagementUpdates current systems and works to assure that necessary data in the system is not compromised as new applications are introduced.Communicate technical requirements for establishing automated reports.Manages and acts as a monitor/primary consultant/reference of the quality assessment data for the surgical and procedural departments, to assure consistencies and avoidance of duplication and assists the department director, managers and system analysts as needed. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of the databases used by the surgical and procedural department.Coordinates as necessary to assure that the data is accurate and timely. Works with other clinical areas to avoid duplication and assure accuracy in data collection.Develops and maintains methods to assure the confidentiality of the information within the databases.Develops methods to tests the accuracy of the data understanding the purpose of the data collection and the process that is being measured.

Data AbstractionConducts data abstraction that does not require clinical judgment.Responsible for maintenance of computerized records and reports, as well as the quality and integrity of clinical data.May be responsible for assisting leadership in performing outcome monitoring for the department.

Department ImprovementParticipates in organizational performance improvement initiatives as a team member and one knowledgeable in data definitions, inclusion/exclusion criteria, data submission frequency, etc.May assist leadership in the development and maintenance of the QAPI dashboard.

Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS)Prepares reports and documents to administration on all aspects of surgical and procedural operations as appropriated or directed.Attends and participates in departmental and hospital meetings.Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain and improve technical skill and competency.Is the primary contact for the cardiovascular PACS image sharing.

Department SupportPrepares correspondence, reports, and accomplishes other tasks requested within the guidelines and time frame of the particular need.Maintains positive relationships with customers served.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of performance improvement.

Knowledge of outcome, process and structural indicators.

Understanding of statistical tools for data analysis.

Strong use of basic statistics and good math skills required.

Strong computer knowledge and typing skills.

Medical terminology and clinical understanding preferred.

Maintains confidentiality of all quality assessment department information (Refer to quality Confidentiality Agreement).
