Non-profit organization is seeking a Senior Payroll Processor to initiate and resolve payroll activities for regular on-cycle and on-demand cycle processing, including time-sheet reviews and submissions, pay code calculation validation, and payment election workflows.

Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

$30.00-$32.00/hour

Responsibilities:

Perform payroll functions necessary to complete employees’ paychecks in a timely manner including employee profile updates, document verification, inputting adjustments, reconciling paycheck information, check printing, direct deposit transmittal, mailing of deposit advices, payroll funding, and verification of required governmental reports and filings.

Self-audit work while processing to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Prepare journal entries for payroll funding, payroll taxes, and garnishment payments and re-classifications as needed.

Prepare off cycle payroll as required for any pay corrections, final checks, or additional payouts.

Reconcile, update, and maintain payroll transaction posting to the general ledger, including payroll tax, garnishment liability accounts, on-cycle and on-demand pay, and payroll allocations.

Respond to and resolve inquires within established time-frames and prioritize workload based upon standard operating procedure and Payroll Supervisor guidance.

Act as a subject matter expert and/or resource and is the main point of contact for agency staff to contact regarding payroll processing and payroll related inquiries. Advise employees and management on Payroll related guidelines and regulations. Respond to employee’s inquiries regarding pay checks and benefits (insurance, PTO, and others). Field all employee inquiries regarding withholding orders, compute disposable earning, and apply garnishments appropriately.

Review and approve Employee Self Service requests for W-4 updates and direct deposit changes. Provide instructions and assist employees in submission of requests accordingly.

Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on how to utilize Workday to ensure timekeeping, absence, and compensation elements input correctly for accurate payroll processing.

Work efficiently with stakeholders (such as HRIS team, P&C, employees, and vendors) with payroll to resolve any issues in a timely manner

Assist Payroll Supervisor with coordination of schedules and training sessions for departmental payroll representatives to explain and/or update information regarding payroll policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and laws; assist with tracking of progress on specialized work projects or departmental functions.

Document, update, and implement new payroll procedures as needed. Identify and implement improvements and efficiencies to our internal processes.

Initiate payroll processing quality assurance reviews. Prepare, review, and analyze bi-monthly payroll processing and supporting documentation for internal audit. Identify training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and error-free operations.

Prepare audit schedules for annual financial audit and audits by funders/grantors as assigned. Act as main point of contact and assist auditors as needed.

Verify and update company settings in payroll system to ensure payroll is processed appropriately per company policies.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

5+ years of payroll processing experience for an employee base of 1000+

1+ year of Workday Payroll experience

Experience in working for a nonprofit organization preferred
