Math teacher to tutor Alg II, pre-calc, AP calc

California, Los angeles, 90001 Los angeles USA

We are a small independent tutoring company founded by classroom teachers, with offices in Culver City and Manhattan Beach. We run a dynamic small-group program where we conference with students in singles, pairs or occasionally threes and fours, within the context of a larger group setting. It has the community feeling and energy of a one-room schoolhours or multi-age workshop, while still allowing for some customization for each student.

At our Manhattan Beach office, we need a specialist in the honors level math subjects:

Algebra II including honors level

pre-calculus including the new AP

AP Calculus AB

Hours:

Monday-Thursday

ideally 4:15-8:30pm

would consider just the hours for our evening sessions if you are not available earlier 6:00-8:30

You must have teaching or tutoring experience with the AP subjects in the last two years and be knowledgeable about schools in the LA area. This is a group setting so you need to have classroom management experience or be a highly experienced tutor who has worked with small groups and understands multiple learning styles/school curricular approaches.

You would be working collaboratively on a small, highly professional team including the owner/CEO. The hours are consistent and the environment is supportive. We work in-person at our centers in a dynamic group setting but with opportunity to do one-on-one and very small group instruction. There is a strong feeling of community and also a great chance to get to know students very well over a period of years.

To be considered for a phone interview:

Please send your resume and a short cover letter describing 1) your goals for your education career in the next 2-3 years and 2) an example of a time when you differentiated instruction for an individual student within a group, and whether you would do anything differently if you got to reteach that student in that moment.
