Pacific Skate School is looking for outgoing and driven skateboarders to work on a small team of coaches to lead skate lessons, classes and camps.

About us:

Pacific Skate School exists to teach how to correctly, safely, and respectfully skateboard. We aim to highlight individual and community health and wellness through skateboarding. We focus on safety, progression, and entertainment to deliver an impactful skateboard program.

The Details:

We’re looking for passionate, service-oriented individuals who embody this vision. To lead individual lessons and group classes with new and existing skaters at various skateparks across Los Angeles. Work interdependently with the office, skateparks and skaters.

What We Offer:

We run quarterly classes through City’s Park and Rec as well as ongoing private lesson/pod bookings.1:1, 2:1, 3:1 lessons, 1.5hr or 2hr group classes, 3hr or 4hr camps. We also do private events and sessional contests.

Schedule: :

You decide your own availability and which locations to skate at.

We operate 7 days a week and the schedule mainly follows youth’s school schedule, so M-F is 2:30pm - 7:30pm, Sat/Sun can be 8:30am - 2:30pm and/or 2:30-7:30.

Schedule consists of a balance between park and rec class and private lessons.

Minimum availability requirement is 3 days (each day has potential for 3 sessions = 9 Total Sessions). Ideal candidates can do 7-14 1hr skate sessions weekly.

Pedlow / Lanark / Simi Valley / Moorpark / Westlake

Burbank / Glendale / Pasadena / Sun Valley / La Cresenta / Highland Park

Santa Monica / Stoner / Venice / Culver

Echo Park / Lake Street / La Fayette / Marsh

Compensation:

We have a compensation hierarchy. Training is Half Rate for x3 Sessions, first 3 weeks probation period 1:1 base at $24/hr, first full QTR $27/hr and $30/hr thereafter. 1:1 base is $30, 2:1 $42/hr, and 3:1 $54/hr. There is the opportunity for pay raises and additional Class Head Roles $42/hr. Events $48/hr. Tips are accepted.

Training:

There are three training sessions at each level. Takes about one or two weeks to get launched. Training led by the head coach at existing lessons or classes. Training is paid at half starting rate ($12/hr) and paid at the completion of training. Coaches training follows our “Training Grid” and includes coaching tactics, trick explanations, program components, office operations, marketing tools, and individual management.

Role and responsibilities:

As a Skateboard Coach, you’ll be responsible for creating an educational environment for skaters. The best coach isn’t necessarily the best skater, however coaches should have advanced skate knowledge.

Coaches are expected to teach skaters of various ages and skill levels. Utilize the program curriculum, be a representative of Pacific Skate School and be responsible to run a quality skate session.

Skate Coaches have specific duties related to their sessions including monitoring skaters, gear organization, paperwork with clients, and calendar management.

Business Professionalism when working with the office and clients including reliability, strong communication skills, time management, and a positive working attitude.

Self Manage personal Calendar through Square Appointments App on smart phone as well as communicating with personal clients via text / phone.

All of our coaches act as role models and dedicated mentors to our skaters. We expect all coaches to positively represent skateboarding and improve skate culture.

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old

Must have experience with skateboarding (can drop in and ollie minimum)

Must complete a background check and TB test
